SONNEMAN - A Way of Light, the leader in the design and manufacturing of sophisticated contemporary lighting, is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our growing team. Works with Design and Engineering teams to facilitate product development activities from first design concepts to production. Product Development Engineer will possess strong communication and management skills, and ability to work in a high pressure and dynamic environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering development and design for manufacturing of new product concepts
  • Maintenance and updating of existing product specifications
     

Duties May Include:

  • Interfacing with the Design Department to understand product requirements
  • Engineering design/development of new products, including material/process selection and mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical design
  • Generating 3D CAD drawings in SOLIDWORKS for manufacturing vendor
  • Clearly documenting and communicating design and engineering details for manufacturing vendors
  • Detailed review of 3D CAD drawings received from manufacturing vendor, checking for accuracy, consistency, and completeness
  • Mechanical review and inspection of prototypes and first-article samples, possibly including on-site reviews with manufacturing vendors in China
  • Generating product specifications and supporting documentation, including datasheets and assembly instructions

 

Minimum Requirements Include:

  • 3 years of product design/development engineering experience, preferably in the decorative or architectural lighting fields.
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering materials and low- to high-volume production manufacturing processes.
  • Highly skilled in SOLIDWORKS solid modeling.
  • Basic shop and mechanical prototyping skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related engineering field.
  • US citizen or permanent resident (no VISA sponsorship available).

Sonneman is seeking a Freelance Project Manager for a long-term project.  The Project Manager will be managing projects end-to-end and will be involved in non-IT focused initiatives. The individual will be working with teams from Marketing, Product Design, 3D Visualization and Production Departments. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work with business teams to establish sprint priorities.
  • Involved with setting up recurring design planning meetings with team.
  • Run daily catalog meetings with the goal to resolve roadblocks and/or escalate as needed.
  • Manage continuous flow of work.
  • Anticipate issues and act proactively to address these and other roadblocks.
  • Report progress on projects to Sr. Leadership team on weekly basis.
  • Work with Product Management team for lining up project releases.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of Project management experience.
  • Preferred experience in managing a catalog.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and trend analysis reporting skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, planning, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Manage changing priorities and meet tight timelines. Can work under pressure, manage competing priorities and work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Great communicator who keeps all stakeholders updated with progress on projects, issues and updates.

We are seeking a Jr. Architectural Designer to work with our architectural design team on retail/show displays and lighting layouts. Candidate must demonstrate design problem solving capabilities on projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities will include:
- Designing graphic and structural elements for trade show exhibits and product installations for interior architectural projects;
- Site surveys
- Generating product proposals

-Work from rough sketches and specifications created by sales reps, architects and designers to architectural plans from knowledge of building techniques

-Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by architects and clients

-Design plans using computer-aided design and drafting 3D CAD software

Qualifications:
- Undergraduate architectural training;
- Skilled in AutoCAD, SketchUp, with knowledge of Revit. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe CS applications a plus;
- Experience in any of the following: architecture, trade show exhibits, set design or industrial design;
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment;
- Proven experience in meeting project timelines;
- Ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing.

-Strong general design skills and ability to provide general visualization and design support to each project assigned

-Working experience in merchandising

-Ability to take creative direction and apply feedback into visual form

Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years professional design experience and college courses in architectural design;

-Physically layout/install retail displays
- US citizen or permanent resident (no Visa sponsorship available);
- Able to work full-time in our Westchester, NY office;
- Available for periodic domestic travel.

We are seeking a Freelance Photo Retoucher to work with our Marketing team.  The Freelance Photo Retoucher will assist in enhancing the quality of digital images to be used for our brand marketing.  The ideal candidate will thrive in the opportunity to work at a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Take images from un-retouched files to clean and crisp final images.
  • Retouch images in accordance with established style guides.
  • Format and enhance all photography and image content.
  • Color correction, composite and extracting abilities.
  • Review retouching work for quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure visual consistency of product images within projects, and across brand.
  • Meet daily image goals and display flexibility when deadlines change. 

Qualifications:

5+ years skill set in Photoshop.
Experience in high-end environment and product retouching for Web and final print reproduction.
Must have working knowledge of Color Correction based on RGB color space and conversion to CMYK to meet printing industry standards for reproduction.
