SONNEMAN – A Way of Light is seeking an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or Controller who will be reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.  The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting, including the accurate and timely posting of all transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, management of the full month-end close process, internal controls, cash flow, balance sheet, P&L analysis and preparation of monthly financial statements.


Initially, the successful candidate will focus on building the accounting organization with the help of the CFO.  Together, we will plan and execute on the transition of the accounting / finance function from a shared service to a standalone organization under the oversight of the candidate/CFO.  This process will involve the recruitment and building of a team, development and implementation of accounting procedures / controls, and finally, the orderly transition to our oversight.

Over the long-term, the successful candidate will manage the accounting and finance organization of a business that is experiencing an inflection in scale.  Our success will be measured by our ability to make finance and accounting a strategic asset for the firm.  This role is a partnership with a CFO who has a strong investing / Wall Street finance background.


Reports To:           CFO (Patrick Klosterman)

Direct Reports:      [TBD / Accounting / Finance team]


    Full GL management, including the accurate and timely posting of all transactions, including journal entries
    Produce timely accounting reports, including full financial statement packages, analyses and balance sheet reconciliations
    Analyze financial information, data, and trends, and provide recommendations to CFO and rest of business
    Management of full month-end and year-end close process
    Balance sheet and P&L account analysis
    Reconciliations of cash, BS, P&L and AMEX on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
    Establish and maintain adherence to internal controls
    Accounting liaison with rest of organization
    Manage working capital and cash including the preparation of weekly check runs
    Maintain an A/R collections process and ensure entries associated with Sales / credits booked properly
    Manage annual budget & forecasting processes

Qualifications & Education:

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  •     Minimum of 4 to 6 years related accounting experience
  •         At least 1 year with inventory-based company
  •         At least 1 year with commissions
  •     Direct supervisory experience
  •     Full GL management
  •     Audit experience
  •     CPA
  •     Proficiency with SAP
  •     Experience with capitalized assets

We are seeking a full-time Industrial Designer to work with our design and engineering teams to develop and support new products from concept to post-production for our line of contemporary lighting fixtures.

Responsibilities may include:

- Concept Sketching/Exploration;
- Physical Design: Rapid prototyping and model making; 
- 3D and 2D CAD modeling and photo realistic rendering.


- Highly proficient in Solidworks, KeyShot, & Adobe Creative Suite;
- Familiarity with production manufacturing processes and materials;
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, or related field with a strong product development focus;
- Meticulous and detail-oriented, with big picture conceptual skills;
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and flexible design environment;

The Position

  • Plan, organize, lead, and manage print, digital, graphic, video and written communications from concept through production development and distribution
    • Responsible for the planning, staffing, scheduling and coordinating of brand messaging, creative talent and related graphic design resources for multimedia products ranging from product catalogs through advertising, promotion, sales and trade show materials
  • Coordinate and execute on all marketing/advertising initiatives
    • Manage marketing calendar with internal team and external agency and resources
    • Key marketing/advertising initiatives include events, trade shows, PR, print, digital (email, social, SEO, and display), and catalog production
  • Develop and lead digital & web marketing strategy
    • Manage company website design, graphics and written content
  • Recruit the communications and marketing talent resources


Qualifications & Education:   

•     Broad experience in directing and managing the creative communications of a large organization, magazine or graphic and digital enterprise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or liberal arts (English preferred) with a strong English writing focus
  • Master’s degree in Design, Graphic Arts, Advertising, or related field
  • Knowledge of and experience with Modern architectural and interior design
  • Knowledge of Modern design of furniture or other architecturally related products field a plus
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and processes of a design or creative team
  • Proficient in photo imaging, Adobe Creative Suit and other advanced graphic and rendering software and experience with print and digital production
